Persistent memory for Claude Code (and Codex, Cursor)
Give Claude Code a memory that survives sessions: connect notelog over MCP with a personal token, then tell Claude when to load and save notes.
1. Create a token
Sign in to notelog and open API tokens from the profile menu. Create one; it starts with nl_pat_ and is shown once.
2. Add the MCP server
One command in your terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http notelog https://getnotelog.com/api/mcp \ --header "Authorization: Bearer nl_pat_XXXXXXXX"
3. Tell Claude how to use it
Add a short instruction to your project's CLAUDE.md (or AGENTS.md for Codex):
## Memory (notelog) - At the start of a session, call notelog recent_notes and search_notes for this project. - When we make a decision or fix something non-obvious, save it with save_note: a short title, then the decision and the reason.
Other clients
Any MCP client with Streamable HTTP and custom headers works with the same URL and the Authorization: Bearer header.
